Dr. Utoft is an an engaged, ambitious and competent academic from the Danish Centre for Studies in Research and Research Policy, Aarhus University, with a particular interest in and passion for issues related to equality and diversity in knowledge-intensive organizations, with a particular focus on universities. She has a solid knowledge foundation within the areas of leadership, organizations, human resources and communication, gender and diversity from academic and corporate, theoretical and applied settings in Denmark as well as abroad.

Working Experience

Dr. Utoft has been employed as a research and teaching assistant at the University of Southern Denmark and a teaching assistant at Copenhagen Business School. Since finishing her PhD, she has worked as a postdoc at the Danish Centre for Studies in Research and Research Policy, Aarhus University. Her career also includes a five-month stint as Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Northeastern University in Boston, USA, in 2019, board member of the Danish Association for Gender Research, and editorial board member of the journal Gender, Work & Organization's special section 'Feminist frontiers'.

Scientific Background

Dr. Utoft holds a Bachelor's Degree of Spanish and English Business Communication (2012) and a Master's Degree of Human Resource Management (2015) from the University of Southern Denmark. She completed her PhD on gender equality work in knowledge-intensive organizations in May 2020. Dr. Utoft specializes in qualitative research methods, ethnography in particular, anchored in feminist epistemologies. Other research foci include gender and networks in academic career advancement, gender bias in research funding, and interpersonal dynamics in medical technology innovation.
